I have a “Food for Thought” section on the board in my classroom. I like to update this every week with quotes that will make my students think or quotes that will inspire them to do their best. When I started using quotes in my classroom, I wondered if my students would even pay any attention to them. To my surprise, I noticed that some of the students would write down a quote that resonated with them and keep it in the front of their binder. A few students asked me to read the new quotes to them each Monday. There have also been some students who have asked to pick a new quote or write one of their own to put on the board. I love that my students did respond to the inspirational quotes. This is something that I plan on continuing to do in my classroom. Everyone needs a little inspiration now and then.
Below you will find the quotes that I like to use most often.
“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” -Leonardo da Vinci

“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” -C.S. Lewis
